It’s always rewarding to hear when Made In Group members collaborate for the benefit of their businesses. In fact, that’s exactly what happened when Made In Yorkshire member and tube bending machinery manufacturer Unison Ltd, met up with Cradley Heath spring machinery business Transworld Engineering in May 2023.

The occasion was Unison’s combined 50th anniversary and Made In Group event, where just short of 100 Unison customers and Made In members met at Unison’s Scarborough HQ for technology talks, machine tool demonstrations… and a big birthday bash afterwards.

“During the event I got talking to Stuart Pilley, MD at Transworld Engineering and Made In The Midlands member,” says Unison Ltd’s joint managing director, Alan Pickering,” and it became pretty obvious there was a good deal of common ground between us. At the time, Unison was in the process of bringing Dorking-based wire bending machine tool maker, Pneuform, into the Unison family, and my conversation with Stuart led me to believe there may well be grounds for a promising joint venture.”

The leading name in tube and wire bending machines

Unison invented all-electric tube manipulation and is the UK’s leading manufacturer of tube bending machinery. Through the acquisition of Pneuform, the company’s objective is to become the leading name for both tube and wire bending machine tool technologies. “With the addition of our advanced controls to the current Pneuform machine tool line-up and plans to develop a new generation of wire bending machines, we’ve set our sights on helping Pneuform enjoy an even bigger share of the considerable UK and European wire-bending market,” continues Alan Pickering. “As a well-established spring and wire processing machinery specialist, with a considerable customer base across Europe, we believe Transworld Engineering is the perfect partner to assist us in reaching out to a wide range of manufacturers – across Germany and Italy in particular.”

Perfect fit with existing products

Commenting on his company’s newly formed partnership with Unison Ltd, which commenced properly in October 2023, Transworld Engineering’s Stuart Pilley, added: “After meeting Alan, it was clear that Unison’s commitment to engineering excellence and software development, combined with our experience of the spring and wire bending market, will result in great new products. We look forward to introducing the Pneuform range to our extensive UK and European customer base.”
